What's your reason to remove that tattoo?
Unwanted tattoos don’t have to be a permanent reminder of things you would rather forget. Laser tattoo removal is a non-invasive way to safely and effectively remove unwanted tattoos . This treatment is for full or partial removal to allow for a new tattoo to be applied. All laser tattoo removal treatments are administered by our Cidesco Certified Clinical Esthetician/Laser Technician with many years of experience in the laser field and using only medical-grade CSA-approved laser equipment.
Laser tattoo removal works by delivering a high-powered, short, pulsed beam of light, which passes through the skin and breaks up tattoo pigment particles. These particles are absorbed by the body, and with time, colours eventually fade and skin returns to its natural colour – often with no trace of the original tattoo. Each treatment lasts up to 30 minutes, with 6-8 weeks between treatments. The number of treatments required varies, and can be determined following a consultation with our Laser Technician.
A tattoos pigment is targeted by a laser that has been calibrated to a specific wavelength of color. Our state-of-the-art Medicam EVOLASE-TT Laser sends a pulse of energy into the skin which breaks up the pigment.
The pieces are then broken down through the skin lymphatic system, or rise to the surface.
Fair skinned people respond best to treatment and everyone must get a ‘patch test’ done to see how skin reacts.
Black is the easiest of all the colors to remove. Red and Yellow are the next easiest, leaving Blues and Greens to be the most difficult.
Tattoo over 10 years old respond the best to the treatments. The ink has already started the break down making it easier for the laser to break up more ink.
Pain, it hurts more than getting a tattoo. We have one of the more comfortable lasers on the market.
The laser sends pulses into the ink, every pulse can feel similar to a elastic band snapping the skin.
We do provide a Medical Grade Numbing Cream 30 minutes prior to the treatment that comforts the skin. Expect more pain in more sensitive areas such as, your spine, small of your back, hands, feet, ankles, and inner arms.
Hands and feet may require more treatments due to their decreased blood flow, meaning there are less white blood cells (part of the lymphatic system) which works to break down the pigment.
No rest or recuperation time is needed, you can return back to normal activities without any restrictions.
After 6 to 8 weeks, the area should be completely healed and another session may be necessary.
The process is not immediate. After the first treatment the ink that is exposed to the laser will begin to break down and be removed by your body's immune system over a period of 4-6 weeks. Once the initial process is complete, you come in for your next treatment repeating the process until the tattoo is gone. This can take 5-10 treatments. Some colours and ink take longer than others.
After your first treatment you might not see a significant change as it will take more treatments before the tattoo is gone. After the third or fourth treatment your tattoo will start to fade. We recommend 4 treatments before a cover-up. If you decide to get a complete removal, the treatments will continue until the tattoo is gone.
